Some are hinted at with markings on the floor, or glimpses of floor/land at the edges of the screen, but in some other cases there is nothing hinting at the secret. This game is all over the place with its secrets. There is stuff that is more and stuff that is less evocative in this sense than FEZ, and I feel it means a little more when the creator is actually going though shit in order to make this rather than just being a more or less veiled egotistical expression of himself.Įxactly this. none the less I enjoyed it, but after playing it and just taking it all In I couldn't help feeling like this was littered with a bunch of gotcha BS from Fish just to say "yeah I made this shit." Like It's something I can't really describe well, but every time I think back on the game I just feel like every screen, puzzle, and pixel had this element of "I'm Phil Fish, look at how deep and artistic I am." Not to say that putting touches of himself in the game was a bad thing per say, but knowing Fish I just feel he did it to be a show offĪgain, though not being too far into the game, I can see what you mean about certain moments representing his heart condition.
Thing is in FEZ I played it after the whole Phil Fish debacle so I had to kind of put my preconceptions of him and the game aside while playing the game.
This kind of puts me in a weird situation with this game because this is almost exactly the reason why I didn't like FEZ, but it's an element that adds a lot from what I've played of the first few hours of HLD.
